Insurtech Network Centre was launched in 2018 and is a unique and exciting Collaborative Insurance Innovation Platform that facilitates collaboration between established insurance sector firms along with Insurtech Startups and the research, development and educational resources of Institute of Technology Carlow.

Insurance is a significant employer in the South East Region with c.2,500 people directly employed in the sector by a mixture of indigenous and multinational SME and corporate insurers.

INC’s work is carried out across four key pillars:

  1. Insurtech accelerator: encouraging collaboration between established insurance firms and Insurtech start-ups
  2. Course development: developing cost effective targeted and niche programmes for Insurance /FS professionals
  3. Access to research and innovation: facilitating engagement between companies and the research and innovation resources of IT Carlow
  4. Co-working facility: constructing an on-campus facility to accommodate these collaborative activities

With increasing change and uncertainty the need for Innovation in Insurance is essential to gain and sustain a competitive advantage has never been greater. The Strategic mission of the INC is the creation of sustainable high value employment in the South East, facilitating the founding of new firms, as well as the expansion of existing companies and the attracting of foreign direct investment.
