Reports to the Group Head of Depositary Services

The Aztec Group is excited about expanding our award-winning fund, corporate and depositary services offering into Ireland. The Jurisdictional Head of Depositary Services will play a key role in developing our depositary services business in Ireland and supporting the Group Head of Depositary Services with operational, financial, governance and strategic considerations.

Key responsibilities – Establishing our Irish business:Business establishment

  • Support the Aztec project team and the wider Ireland leadership team in creating the vision for jurisdiction
  • Providing hands on practical leadership with all elements of establishing our operational environment in Ireland

Regulatory application

  • Support the Aztec project team working with the Central Bank of Ireland to obtain our fund administration and DAoFI permissions in Ireland.
  • Successfully assume the PCF1, PCF8 and PCF35 functions of our depositary services business in Ireland

Recruitment

  • Influence the resourcing strategies of our depositary services talent in Ireland as well as supporting the design and development of other client-facing and support teams in our Irish business
  • Support the development of proactive relationships with recruitment agents, local business communities and educational institutions to support our longer-term team growth aspirations

Business development

  • Work with Aztec’s business development team and the wider senior leadership team to devise and deliver a strategic plan of client and intermediary business to deliver revenue growth, profitability, relationship management and business development across Ireland and the EU
  • Develop effective relationships with Aztec’s leadership team, both within Ireland and across the Group and provide a conduit for serving existing Aztec Group clients’ needs in Ireland
  • Assist in building and growing Aztec’s depositary services offering in Ireland through acting as the first point of contact for proposal-drafting, fee and team considerations
  • Support the Group Head of Depositary Services in the ongoing assessment and development of Aztec’s business development material and profile in the market
  • Represent Aztec’s wider business as well as our depositary services business at relevant industry events

Client management

  • Work with the depositary services leadership and management team to ensure that high-levels of client service are delivered on a day-to-day basis for their respective client portfolios
  • Ensure that all client outputs are of sufficient quality and subject to satisfactory review
  • Support the management of the executive-level relationships including, but not limited to, periodic client relationship meetings and the formal presentation of reports to client boards
  • Actively develop relationships with existing clients and their other adjacent service providers such as auditors and lawyers with a focus on gaining new revenue streams
  • Work collaboratively with other Aztec teams providing services to the same clients to ensure a consistent and co-ordinated client experience
  • Improve the quality of service, focusing on market trends and value adds in terms of thought leadership, events and building collaterals / IP

People management

  • Provide oversight of and line management to leaders within our Irish business, build a results focused culture, effectively supervise, coach, direct and engage the team through their day-to-day work and longer-term career ambitions
  • Support people management initiatives including, but not limited to, training, development and/or promotion and remuneration considerations
  • Work with the depositary services management team on all aspects of junior team member recruitment and the relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Financial performance management

  • Assist the Group Head of Depositary Services in setting annual budgets and managing the business to meet these targets
  • Work with the depositary services management team on an ongoing basis to support them with client and team-specific financial considerations
  • Liaise effectively with our internal finance team and our clients on billing, invoicing and payment considerations, supporting adequate working capital management

Operational development

  • Assist the Group Depositary Services Leadership team in our ongoing assessment and evolution of our operating framework including, but not limited to, our use of systems, our checklist environment and relationships with third parties
  • Work effectively with the depositary services management team to generate and collate ideas and feedback on our operating framework with a view to prioritising and presenting these to the Group Depositary Services Leadership for further consideration

Risk management

  • Support the depositary services management team with technical considerations that may require an additional level of judgement
  • Act as a higher-level authority for internal and external considerations including, but not limited to, new business risk assessments, financial decisions and formal client communications
  • Work with the depositary services management team, ensuring that Aztec’s internal control framework is consistently delivered across our Irish depositary services business
  • Act as the first point of contact and taking day-to-day responsibility for internal legal, compliance and risk review planning, delivery and outcomes
  • Work effectively with the Group Depositary Services Leadership and Operational Resilience teams to facilitate an effective ISAE3402 audit process

Governance

  • Lead the board of our Irish depositary services regulated entity, co-ordinating effectively with other executive and non-executive directors
  • Work with the other board members and Head of Compliance to ensure ongoing compliance with our regulatory obligations under the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995 and other relevant legislation
  • Contribute to the leadership of Aztec’s Depositary Services business more generally by joining the product board
  • Join the Aztec Ireland senior leadership team to consider local operational matters

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

  • Proven experience of delivering and/or leading the provision of professional services to a portfolio of alternative investment fund clients
  • Experience of leading a regulated financial services business in Ireland, including holding of one or more relevant regulated functions
  • Experience of operating successfully at client board level, including writing and presenting reports and maintaining ongoing relationships with executive-level people
  • A relevant professional qualification in accounting, law, administration or governance
  • Experience of contributing to and being responsible for all aspects of running a successful business including, but not limited to, operational, financial and people performance as well as more medium-term strategic considerations
  • Proven experience of contributing to both proactive and reactive business development activity, including relationship development, proposal development and presentation scenarios
  • Sound technical knowledge and a strong appreciation of the risk, compliance and relevant regulator landscape for professional depositaries in Ireland
  • You will need to be quick to learn new systems and great with people, as close working relationships between our colleagues and clients is at the heart of what we do.
